Welcome to Thorrington Dance Academy.

We provide a range of fun and engaging dance classes for children and Adults. From Ballet and Tap to Acrobatics and Musical Theatre, we have something for everyone, no matter their ability.

We are passionate about helping to develop happy and confident dancers from their very first step with us. Our qualified and experienced teachers create a safe environment for our dancers to grow in confidence and ability.

Our Commitment

Thorrington Dance Academy is committed to putting our dancers’ well-being first.
We are a certified Acrobatic Arts studio, a member of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and proud to be a Dance Den accredited school. 

All of our teachers are hugely passionate about sharing their love of dance. Our teachers are friendly and have a positive and encouraging approach to teaching.

All teachers have DBS checks, first aid training and are appropriately qualified to teach dance.

Most of our dance classes are held at Thorrington Village Hall, Colchester.

Our Tuesday Classes are held at Brightlingsea YMCA.

Our Principal

Thorrington Dance Academy was started in 2014 by Sam to share her love of dance with others.
Sam knew from a young age that she wanted to become a dance teacher. Thorrington Dance Academy began with just a couple of classes on a Saturday morning. These classes were hugely popular and more classes were gradually added to the timetable.

With demand growing, Sam was delighted to have Lissy join the TDA teaching team in January 2018. Thorrington Dance Academy’s primary focus is on providing classes that are thoroughly enjoyed, where every child leaves the class smiling.

Children have the opportunity to take ISTD examinations in Classical Ballet and Tap Dance. We also create performing opportunities for every child.

As well as showcases for parents, Thorrington Dance Academy has also performed at Thorrington Village Day for several years.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do your classes run in School holidays?

Our classes run for 39 weeks per year. Classes do not tend to run during school holidays. We do offer holiday workshops in some of the school holidays.

How much are your classes?

30 minute class - £16.25 per month
40 minute class - £17.87 per month
50 minute class - £19.50 per month
60 minute class - £21.12 per month
Adult Ballet - £19.50 per month
Adult FunkyFit - £6.00 pay as you go

Do we have to give notice to leave?

We require 4 weeks notice before terminating any classes.

Where do classes take place?

Our dance classes for Children and Adults take place at Thorrington Village Hall, Salmons Lane, Thorrington, CO7 8HE and at Brightlingsea YMCA, High Street, Brightlingsea, Essex, CO7 0AQ

You can reach our classes for kids easily from Alresford, Brightlingsea, Great Bentley, Clacton-on-Sea and Colchester.

Do you offer a trial class?

Yes! We offer a trial class to give your child a chance to experience our fantastic classes before enrolling for a full term. 

Payment for the trial class is required at the time of booking to secure your child’s place.
